China is a country with a very early civilization and a long and rich history. The compass, gunpowder, the art of paper-making and block printing invented by the ancient Chinese have contributed immensely to the progress of mankind. The Great Wall, Grand Canal and other projects built by the Chinese people are regarded as engineering feats in the world. It’s capital is Beijing. With a landmass of 9,600,000 sq km, China is the third largest country in the world. Located in the east of the Asian continent, on the western shore of the Pacific Ocean, the People’s Republic of China has a land area of about 9.6 million sq km, and is the third-largest country in the world.

The People’s Republic of China joined the Caribbean Development Bank on January 20, 1998. As of December 31, 2016, China holds 5.58 percent of the Bank’s total shares. China also contributed USD7 million to the eighth replenishment of the Unified Special Development Fund. This allows low-interest loans and grants to continue to be given to the poorest member states of the Caribbean.

As the largest developing country in the world, China is committed to the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening-up. It is ready to carry out friendly cooperation with all countries on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and build a harmonious world of durable peace and common prosperity.
