BNTF is a Category “B” project based on CDB’s Environment and Social Review Guidelines. Under the BNTF all sub-project applications submitted to CDB include a completed and signed copy of the Environmental Screening Form.
Discrete community based environmentally beneficial sub-projects will be supported in close collaboration with relevant public sector agencies. These may include co-management of precious resources; re-forestation of buffer zones and maintenance of slopes associated with critical infrastructure such as roads and drainage.
Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change
The BNTF Programme assists BMCs with improving their level of disaster management with emphasis on disaster mitigation. All engineering designs and construction activities will address disaster mitigation and incorporate hazard resistant techniques.
Adaptation to climate change is viewed as a priority for ensuring the long-term effectiveness of investment in poverty reduction and sustainable development.
BNTF’s response to climate change adaptation measures will be through specific support for building community resilience to adapt to climate change.
