The Information Services Centre (ISC) intends to be a cost-effective and efficient provider of quality, timely and reliable information resources and services in support of the information needs of CDB staff, approved consultants and researchers involved in the development of the Caribbean Region. Inherent in the ISC mission is the ongoing commitment to “defying distance to information access”.
The need for reliable information
CDB recognises that sustainable social and economic development planning depends on access to timely and reliable data and information resources. ISC is dedicated to acquiring and preserving a comprehensive collection of information resources in varied formats. Information is acquired from various sources including international book sellers, regional and international organisations, financial institutions, UN specialised agencies and government agencies.
Information and Reference Services
ISC provides a range of reference and research services including online database searching, internet searching, inter-library loan, resource discovery, information alerting and document delivery. ISC also provides a physical space in a relaxed working environment with computers for web-based access to the virtual library.
ISC also provides a full range of cataloguing services including indexing, abstracting and classification. It also develops and maintains various information repositories on specialised subjects related to development planning.
Development Research Collection
ISC collection consists of reference books, monographs, handbooks, directories, journals, newspapers, conference reports and specialised technical writings. The collection covers a broad range of subjects, including:

The Virtual Library
CDB Infolink is the Virtual Library also known as the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). This web-based catalogue may be accessed via the internet 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Information Alerts are listings of new titles that are disseminated to the patron base via email. Specialised bibliographies are listings of information resources on topics and themes as requested by the patron. Headline News is a daily highlight of newspaper articles with links to regional newspapers. Newspapers Clippings Database is a digital database topical newspaper articles. CDB InfoLink is the online catalogue of library and information resources. You may contact ISC to be added to the mailing list.
Borrowing privileges are open to CDB staff and approved consultants. External users may not borrow items but are allowed to use the information resources in the ISC Reading Room. Access to photocopying is available at a nominal fee.
ISC receives many inquiries on a daily basis. The Staff will make every effort to answer your information queries, refer you to the technical staff involved in the field or direct you to other sources of information.
ISC continues to pursue an active role in the development of regional information systems and the utilisation of information technology. It is strongly committed to the coordination of information activities on a national, regional and international level. ISC is a regional focal point for several information systems. ISC also participates in networks, consortia and programs which promote resource sharing of collections and information services.

Opening hours of the ISC are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. External visitors must make an appointment by contacting the Information Services Centre.
