Summary

The provision of technical assistance (TA) is a core function of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) or the Bank in carrying out its purpose which is to “contribute to the harmonious economic growth and development of the member countries in the Caribbean ... and to promote economic co-operation and integration among them” as stated in Article 1 of the Bank’s Charter. The financing and the management of TA have changed significantly over the past 40 years and past evaluations as well as feedback received in 2010 from CDB’s internal and external stakeholders, have consistently highlighted weaknesses in terms of the strategic relevance and programmatic coherence of the TA portfolio. In light of this, a revised CDB TA Policy and Strategy document has been developed and is presented to CDB’s Board of Directors (BOD) for approval.
