CDB Annual Meeting to Take Place in Venezuela in May
The Thirty-Seventh Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) will be held in Caracas, Venezuela. The Governors will meet on Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31, 2007, at the Radisson Plaza Eurobuilding Hotel in the Venezuelan capital.
The Governors' meeting will be the highlight of a week of activities taking place at that time. It will be preceded by a meeting of the Bank's Board of Directors, and the Annual Meeting of Contributors to CDB's Special Development Fund, the concessionary window from which grants, as well as loans on more favourable terms than from the Bank's ordinary operations, are made to CDB's borrowing members. The William G. Demas Memorial Lecture, which honours the memory of CDB's second President, will also be held prior to the Governors' meeting.
The Board of Governors is the highest policy-making body of CDB, and meets once a year to review the operations of the Bank and make major policy decisions. Each member country of the Bank is represented on the Board of Governors. Newly-admitted member, Haiti, which previously enjoyed observer status, will be represented as a participant for the first time.
