Who Can Apply

Internships are open for students who:

  • Are nationals of a CDB member country 
  • A current or recent past student (within 12 months) of at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree programme from an accredited university.
  • Available to work full time for a period of three months
  • Are capable of working in a multicultural team environment

Intern, Social Sector

Application Deadline

Key responsibilities include supporting the preparation of a technical assistance paper on youth empowerment, participating in social safeguards discussions on a capital project, and developing knowledge resources such as concept notes, fact sheets, and presentations related to youth and Indigenous Peoples. The intern will also assist Social Analysts with event coordination, attend meetings with internal and external partners, and prepare meeting notes.

Intern, Private Sector

Application Deadline

Key responsibilities include supporting the design of data collection tools, analysing research findings, and presenting insights through reports, blogs, and informational content to inform programme decisions and stimulate publicprivate dialogue. The role also involves coordinating logistics for visibility events, workshops, and stakeholder engagements; supporting monthly and quarterly reporting; assessing progress against the programme’s M&E framework; and assisting with planning for Steering Committee meetings.

Intern, Legal

Application Deadline

As an intern, you will conduct legal research across a wide range of issues relevant to the Bank’s mandate, assist in reviewing legal documents and policies, and help prepare agreements and contracts with governments, consultants, and partner entities. A key component of the role includes contributing to the development of an internal framework governing the responsible use of artificial intelligence—an opportunity to work at the intersection of law, technology, and development.

Intern, Independent Evaluation

This internship offers high exposure and a unique professional development opportunity, centred on supporting the inaugural Caribbean Evaluation Week (CEW) in September 2026. In addition, the intern will undertake a research study examining the effectiveness of capacitybuilding initiatives supported by OIE—designing the research approach, gathering and analysing data, and producing a final report.

Intern, Strategy and Development Effectiveness

As the Intern, Strategy and Development Effectiveness, you will contribute to the external communication of CDB’s new Strategic Plan (2026–2035), help craft compelling impact stories that demonstrate the value of projects funded through the Special Development Fund (SDF), and support efforts to enhance transparency across the Bank’s Other Special Funds (OSF). 


The Details

The selection process consists of four main stages:

  • Candidates apply online
  • Applications are reviewed internally and shortlisted
  • Transcripts are submitted as proof of enrollment in programme in an accredited university, or evidence of awarded degrees
  • Selection is made and the successful candidates are informed

 

The duration of the internship is for a period of three months, commencing in June (renewable for another three months up to a total of six months), on a full-time basis (35 hours per week).

The internship is for 3 months commencing in June of each year.

Once opportunity ads are posted, you can apply using the link to CDB’s online recruitment portal.  Only applications received via the portal will be considered.  Hard copies of resumes will not be accepted. 

You will be advised in April whether you are successful.  If you are selected, you will be asked to provide a current transcript and an academic reference. 

The official language of the CDB is English. Fluency in the official language is required for participation.  

The current internship offerings requires physical presence at the CDB headquarters for the duration of the internship. Remote arrangements are not accommodated at this time. 

CDB will provide accommodation and a daily stipend to assist with meals, transportation, and other incidentals for interns relocating to Barbados for the period of the internship.  

Yes. You will have an opportunity to participate in relevant training facilitated by the Bank during your internship. 

Yes. Your supervisor will conduct feedback discussions with you regularly throughout the internship and you will receive an overall evaluation at the period's end. 

Yes. We will ask you to complete an exit survey at the end of your time with us so that we can continuously improve our programme.
