CDB President appointed to Order of Distinction in Jamaica

Dr. William Warren Smith, CDB President after receiving his award for Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander during the National Honours and Awards ceremony in Jamaica on October 17, 2016. On the occasion of Jamaica' 54th Anniversary of Independence, Dr. William Warren Smith, President of the Caribbean Development Bank, was appointed to the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander. Dr. Smith received the honour for distinguished public service and for service to the Caribbean in the field of Finance. The appointment was made by the Governor General of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Linton Allen ON, GCMG, CD, KSt.J, in accordance with the National Honours and Awards Act - 1969 of Jamaica, and on the advice of the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, ON, MP. The appointment became effective on August 6, 2016. Jamaican citizens who render outstanding and important services to the country are eligible to be appointed to the Order of Distinction. Distinguished citizens of countries other than Jamaica may also receive the honour. Following the announcement of the appointment in August, the National Honours and Awards ceremony was held at King' House on October 17, 2016. Dr. Smith was among 200 Jamaicans on whom awards were conferred by the Governor General at the event.
