An alumni of the Caribbean Development Bank's VYBZING Youth Outreach programme; St. Lucian, Erland George, has been selected by the Youth for Road Safety (YOURS), to serve as its CORE Group Representative for the Caribbean. YOURS is an international youth-led and youth-oriented non-governmental organisation that acts to make the world's roads safe for young people. Mr. George was one of 26 young people who participated in the VYBZING Youth Forum in St. Lucia in May 2013. That Forum was facilitated by YOURS under the theme, "Road Safety: Save a Life, Save a Future." Having worked in youth development and related fields for over five years, Mr. George said he is eager to undertake his newest challenge. "The VYBZING Youth Forum piqued my interest in youth and road safety. The information shared, discussions and practical exercises highlighted the role we as youth can play in positively influencing the global youth road safety crisis. I am eager to play a role in increasing awareness of the importance of road safety and its impact upon youth in my capacity as the YOURS CORE Representative for the Caribbean." Ms. Angela Parris, Manager, Information Services Unit, CDB and Coordinator of VYBZING said she is extremely pleased the positive ripples from the 2013 VYBZING Youth Forum on youth safety have continued to radiate. The YOURS CORE Group is comprised of 10 youth and road safety leaders from across the Globe. In addition to the Caribbean, the regions of Anglophone Africa, South East Asia, Eastern Mediterranean, Francophone Africa, Western Pacific, North America, South America, Europe, and the Russian Federation are represented.
