The President and staff of the Caribbean Development Bank express deep condolences to the family, Government and People of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on the passing of President Hugo Chávez Frías. Venezuela, a member country of CDB since 1973, has over the years made a significant contribution to the achievement of the development and integration goals of the Caribbean. Under President Chavez's leadership, the ties with CDB and its member countries were strengthened, reflecting his solidarity with the regional community and commitment to advancing the welfare of its people. CDB wishes the Government and People of Venezuela, the strength to endure this difficult time, as his life is remembered, honoured and celebrated.
