Workshop in Dominica

January 27, 2009 No. 1/09-G CDB TEAM ATTENDING PROJECT LAUNCH WORKSOP IN DOMINICA A team from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is currently in Dominica to participate in the Official Launch Ceremony and Workshop for the Carib Territory Community Capacity Building Project, a project financed by CDB.The primary objective of the project is to enhance the capability of residents and institutions in the territory to plan and manage development interventions, and to provide basic infrastructure and support systems for income generation. In December 2007, CDB Board of Directors approved a loan equivalent to USD2.5 million and a grant equivalent to USD259,000 for the project, which includes Construction of two roads and the resurfacing of another, Construction of two community resource centres, training and the establishment of a facility to support enterprise and cultural development. Domnica's Carib territory is home to the largest group of indigenous people in the Eastern Caribbean.The CDB team comprises: Mrs. Yvonne Moses Grant, Division Chief, Social Sector Division; Mr. Clairvair Squires, Portfolio Manager; Mr. Luther St. Ville, Operations Officer (Agriculture and Rural Development); Mr. Stephen Sandiford (Operations Officer (Engineer); Ms. Gail Royer, Legal Counsel; Ms. Grace Simmons, Administrative Assistant; and Mr. McDonald Thomas, Social Analyst. They will be in Dominica until January 29.
