Youth Panel: An Inter-Generational Dialogue

May 28, 2026

The Youth FIRE Intergenerational Dialogue is the culminating event of the Youth FIRE Forum, bringing together young leaders and senior decision-makers to shape practical solutions for the Caribbean’s future.

Held as part of the Caribbean Development Bank’s 56th Annual Meeting, this high-level session embodies the Forum’s core theme: “Forging the Caribbean’s Future: Strategic Solutions for Uncertain Times.” It creates a unique space for collaboration across generations, where youth perspectives directly inform policy thinking and development priorities.

A Platform for Real Dialogue and Action

The session will be led by CDB President, Mr. Daniel M. Best and feature participation from:

  • The Hon. Mario Keith Bowleg, Minister of Youth and Sports, The Bahamas
  • Youth representatives from across the Region, including voices from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago

Together, they will explore how the Caribbean can respond to pressing challenges while unlocking new opportunities for growth and resilience.

Key Focus Areas

The Intergenerational Dialogue will centre on:

  • Youth employment and economic empowerment
  • Digital transformation and innovation
  • Climate resilience and sustainable development
  • Citizen security and social inclusion
  • Partnerships and policy solutions for small island economies

The discussion will also draw on insights from the Youth FIRE Forum’s Co‑Creation Lab and Outcome Statement, ensuring that youth-generated ideas are translated into practical recommendations for governments, development institutions, and partners.

Why It Matters

In a region facing global economic uncertainty, climate risks, and structural challenges, engaging youth is essential to building inclusive and sustainable development pathways. This dialogue positions young people as co‑architects of solutions, not just stakeholders.

It also reinforces CDB’s long-term commitment to youth engagement under its “Transforming the Caribbean for Resilience” Strategic Plan, which recognises the critical role of youth in driving innovation, leadership, and growth.
