Summary

In 2007, the Government of Jamaica signed a USD26 million loan agreement with the Caribbean Development Bank to fund an enhancement and expansion project at the University of Technology, Jamaica. (UTech).

That project is now completed, and the upgrades include a shared learning and teaching space, with 20 SMART classrooms, state-of-the-art lecture theatres, computer laboratories, sanitary amenities and an amphitheatre.

The expansion has boosted enrollment, and stakeholders believe it has positioned the university to be the Region’s premier tech institution.

In this video, students and staff share how the CDB-funded project has improved life on campus and how they believe it will impact plans for the institution’s and Jamaica’s future.
