St. Lucian Companies Briefed on ‘Doing Business with CDB'

Published on
St. Lucian companies interested in participating in projects financed by Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) are now better informed of the procedures and requirements governing the Bank's procurement process. On February 19, 2014, CDB, in collaboration with St. Lucia's Ministry of Physical Development, Housing and Urban Renewal hosted a one day workshop targeting consultants and contractors. The workshop led by Head of Procurement, Mr. Norman Cameron, covered multiple areas including general procurement considerations, sources of information on procurement opportunities, and the methods of selecting/evaluating proposals and bids. Participant, Ms. Dianne Thomas, Quantity Surveyor, Construction and Industrial Equipment Limited said the information learnt will be very useful to her company. "This is the third CDB procurement workshop I have attended. There were a few areas where my company was a bit weak, but we have greatly benefited from our participation in CDB procurement workshops here in St. Lucia, as we have gotten much better at handling tender packages and bids." Mr. Adrian Dolcy, Consultant, Adrian Dolcy and Associates stated, "Though I was familiar with CDB's Procurement Guidelines, there were a lot of new things which came out, particularly about the consultant selection criteria, which were very enlightening. I also received clarification on areas such as the evaluation of contractors' bids." Mr. Dennis Cudjoe, Managing Director, Amarna Consult Limited, concurred with Mr. Dolcy, noting that the clarification received on the criteria for selection of consultants and contractors was very useful. The workshop was held at the Bay Gardens Inn, Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.
