Overview

WHO WE ARE
Launched in August 2016, the Agence Française de Développement/European Union Caribbean Infrastructure Facility (AFD/EU-CIF) programme is a US$33 million initiative to reduce vulnerability and improve the quality of life for people across the Region by advancing access to:

  • potable water;
  • good street lighting;
  • comfortable and safe public transport and
  • protection from natural disasters in CDB’s Borrowing Member Countries.

The programme is financed with funds provided by AFD under a Credit Facility Agreement with CDB and is complemented by a EUR3,000,000 technical assistance grant from the EU.

WHAT WE DO
The AFD-EU-CIF programme aims to contribute to the economic development of the Caribbean region and improve resilience of national economies by financing sustainable infrastructure projects in CDB's Borrowing Member Countries with environmental and climate co-benefits.

The programme has a special focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation projects.
